APIWFSC's 12th Annual Candlelight Vigil at the King County Courthouse. We're going to go en masse and support this community event that seeks to end domestic violence.

This Thursday, instead of a Youth Unity Meeting, we'll be going to the King County Courthouse at 4.30pm on Thursday the 8th to attend the Asian Pacific Islander Women and Family Safety Center's (APIWFSC) 12th Annual Candlelight Vigil. We'll be leaving from SYPP at 4pm.

We're going to attend because we want to support a great community organization in its effort to draw attention to an oft-silenced topic: domestic violence.

The vigil started twelve years ago when Susana Remerata Blackwell and her two friends were shot and murdered by her husband in the King County Courthouse. Susana had been at the courthouse for divorce proceedings when Timothy Blackwell came into the courtroom and shot her.

The vigil is to remember Blackwell and all those whose lives have been taken by domestic violence.

The APIWFSC believes that community education and outreach can help end domestic violence in our communities. The Candlelight Vigil is a free event to honor the lives lost to domestic violence and to remind us that we can build safer, healthier communities together.

Hope to see you on Thursday!
