SYPP has lots of great ways to get involved. Here are just a few:
BECOME A YOUTH MEMBER! (Ages 13 -18)
Join any of our projects or campaigns- Any youth member can join our youth-initiated social justice projects at SYPP or start your own project! Project members attend weekly meetings and help plan and organize project events. It's an awesome way to put your ideas into action, get organizing experience and hands on training. Current projects include our:
- Young Women's Conference
- Project Liberation - Youth Led Political Education Trianings
- YO! Organizing Institute
- Education Justice Campaign
- MLK Hip Hop Show
Participate in our Trainings/Workshops - SYPP hosts regular trainings and workshops on issues like Undoing Racism, Fighting Homophobia, Gender Justice, and Youth Organizing 101. Check our website for upcoming trainings or email yasmeen@sypp.org for more info.
Come to a Youth Unity meetings and SYPP events - Every month we have open Youth Unity meetings. These meetings are to invite new members to get involved, get project updates, talk about hot topic issues, and get to know each other better. Next Youth Unity Meeting is April 5th at 4pm.
Become a Youth Board Member - SYPP's youth led board is currently looking for youth members. Board members make important decisions about budgets, hiring processes, and fundraising. Download Board of Directors Application
Volunteer - We are always looking for young folks to help out in our office or at our events. If you are interested in being a volunteer call 860-9606 or email sylva@sypp.org
Start Your Own Project - SYPP exists to channel youth energy into positive outlets. If you are interested in starting your own project or need support for a project that you have already started, give us a call at 206.860.9606
BECOME AN ADULT ALLY
Volunteer- We are looking for folks with accounting skills, database knowledge, graphic design experience, and other office skills. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Sylva or email sylva@sypp.org
Become an Adult Mentor- Our youth projects can always use adults experienced in undoing various oppressions. Please look at our current projects to see where your skill sets fit.
Join Our Board- Our adult board member slots are filled for the 2006-2007 year.
