Check out the sick video that PepperSpray Productions made for us about the WASL Haunted High and the Education Justice Campaign! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq35EnOQ9w0
On October 27th, 2006 youth and adult allies converged on Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle to create and star in the WASL Haunted High School! The haunted house was the first critical truth action of the Education Justice Campaign (EJC) that had been launched in July. The EJC is fighting against the use of the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) as a graduation requirement in any way that it can. In a vivid demonstration of the power of youth organizing, SYPP brought together an extremely creative and effective event in which the horrors of the WASL were dramatically enacted for crowds of curious students and parents. There was even a member of the Seattle School Board who made a showing that night!
In order to make sure that the event and it's information reaches as many people as possible, we also asked PepperSpray Productions to make a video for us and boy did they make a video! It can be found easily on youtube.com by searching "WASL" or at this link.
Please pass this video on to everyone you know and help support this growing youth movement for educational justice!
